"The Joy of English" is offered in the spring semester and the fall semester. Both courses are designed to help you feel more confident when you have to speak English in front of business partners, colleagues or strangers on the street. Both courses provide you with vocabulary development as well as grammar and writing tools to express yourself better. Functional language, metaphorical language as well as the everyday spoken language including slang will be explored.
These courses offer you the chance to practice speaking in a place where there is no pressure and your English vocabulary and communication skills can grow and develop. It is here where talking is the heart of the course. Both courses have the same goals and design. Only the content, the grammar focus and vocabulary topics, is different.
In in the fall semester, the following topics are part of the language adventure:
- working with the vocabulary for numbers and specifications
- using of adverbs and special adjectives to create better content
- using reporting verbs
- using ‘ing’ forms after certain verbs
- working with the simple passive and other passive forms
- discussing character traits
The course is taught by a native speaker with many years of experience teaching English and is for people who have an English knowledge level B1 or higher.
